Trainee Machinist
We are expanding our permanent workforce and we are looking for Machine Operators to join our manufacturing site in Darlington.

Starting salary is £12.21 ph, after successfully passing your training you’ll rise to £12.95 ph with further potential as you work your way up the grades. In addition to your basic hourly rate, you will also receive the following shift allowance:
Rotating shifts at 16% and 30% for a night shift, with overtime rates at 1.5 and double time.
These roles are working alternative shifts - earlies (6am - 2pm), lates (2pm - 10pm) and nights (10pm - 6am)
We have 3 levels of Machine Operators:
Trainee Machinists (£12.21ph) - with a training plan to hit Grade 3 and 4
Grade 3 (£12.95ph) - core skills as a grade 3 machinist would be the ability to make machine adjustments were required (tooling adjustments, capable of reading CAD drawings)
Grade 4 (£13.34ph) - core skills as a grade 4 machinist would be the ability to make machine adjustments were required (tooling adjustments, capable of reading CAD drawings) tooling removal, installation and setting on woodworking machinery. Capable of creating machine programmes for required customer orders
Grade 5 (£13.74ph) - core skills as a grade 5 machinist would progress from Grade 4 with the ability to make machine adjustments as required (tooling adjustments, capable of reading CAD drawings) tooling removal, installation and setting on woodworking machinery. Capable of creating machine programmes for required customer orders.
What you’ll be doing:
Operate machinery safely at all times
Keep work areas clean and tidy, following a “clean as you go” approach
Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures
Show a willingness to learn and develop into a skilled machine operator
Work as part of a team to meet production targets
Be flexible and support other machines or areas when needed
Work in line with lean manufacturing principles and quality standards
